Patronal Festival Strawberry Tea

After last year's washout Strawberry Tea we were a bit nervous this year, and set up so we could hold it inside just in case. As it turned out, after early afternoon showers, it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon. Lots of people came, and enjoyed a lovely spread, and good conversation.
Many thanks to all who cooked, served and came along.

I put out a few large cardboard boxes, just in case some child might be able to think of something to do with them, which, predictably, they did!

Time stands still...

The good news is that the church clock is exactly right twice a day at the moment. The bad news is that it isn't right any of the rest of the time. It has stopped (at around 10.10, in case you are interested), and initial investigation - to wit, my lovely husband going up the tower to poke around in its innards - reveals that it has got itself in a thorough tangle. I don't quite understand it, but it is something to do with a bit of the mechanism getting jammed up with something like a bike chain which is a vital component. As you can see, clock maintenance is not a speciality of mine... We will be getting in some experts to see what can be done with it, but it seems likely that it will be out of action for a while, so those within earshot of its chimes will have to find some other way of telling the time as they lie awake in the darkness!

Sealfest is nearly here!

Sealfest is less than a month away - July 11. Put the date in your diary and plan to be there! We need help with refreshments and bouncy castles, as well as with general setting up and packing away. If you can help, please let me or Marion Gilchrist know. Please share the poster ; if you can print it out and display it that will help. There will be more details of the line up in about a fortnight.

Strawberry Tea - Sunday June 28th

To help us celebrate our Patronal Festival, the feast of St Peter and St Paul, join us for our Strawberry Tea, with delicious strawberries from Stonepitts Farm, sandwiches and cakes. There will be activities on offer for children. We are hoping for better weather than last year, when it rained non-stop; if that happens the tea will take place in the hall. Everyone is welcome.
