SOLID FESTIVAL 2019 | BEACH TRIPS | ART IN THE
PARK | UPCOMING EVENTS| WANT TO KNOW MORE?
As well as our usual detached and schools work we've been getting up to lots of different things...
On Saturday 13th July we took a group of eight young people to SOLID Festival at Stubbers Adventure Centre. The young people took part in lots of activities such as Jet Skiing, Banana Boating, Archery, Laser Tag and much more. In the evening they had the opportunity to discover and worship Jesus. For most of the young people we took, this was the first time they had experienced a christian event and amazingly some of them went for prayer and one boy received healing.
On the 24th July and the 20th August we were very fortunate to be able take young people to the beach for the day. In July we popped to Whitstable  and in August we took a group to Margate. We had two really great sunny days at the beach and it was such a brilliant opportunity to provide the young people with a fun experience away from their normal day to day routine.
On the 6th July we had the pleasure of providing young people the opportunity to work with a local artist at greatness park. We set up a gazebo and refused to be scared off by the weather. The youth had a great time designing t-shirts that represented and expressed their personality, hobbies, talents and skills.
We were pleased to be able to have a stall to represent SAYT at 'Live On The Vine' on the 19th July. Unfortunately due to wet weather it was held in The Plaza Suite at the Stag Theatre. Even though it couldn't be held outside it was still a lovely evening with musical performances from some very talented young people.
We have been so busy this last term and as well as the events above we have also been fortunate enough to speak to the lovely ladies at St Nicks church and the Sevenoaks Soroptimist group. We had a great time chatting to these groups and telling them a bit more about the work we do and thanking them for their ongoing support whether that's financial, by praying or making delicious cakes for us to take out on detached.

We were also very fortunate to be able to link up Knole academy with Artless Theatre Company.  Knole regularly has days centered around Citizenship and Ethics. In May,  the Year 9's had the opportunity to experience "To War With God" which is a production put together by Artless Theatre Company  based on the book by Peter Fiennes. It is the true story of an Army Chaplain in WW1. The Year 9's were presented with a powerful and thought provoking performance that looked at the topic of faith and suffering during The Great War. They then had the opportunity to unpack it further in workshops and were able to explore the topic of faith and suffering in their own lives, as well as what could be learnt from history,

Below you will find some information about some upcoming events and important days. If you would like to know more about these events or would like to be involved then please send us an email at info@sayt.org.uk
Diary Dates

Knife Angel
  2nd-29th September-
We are planning to take a group to see the Knife Angel at Rochester Cathedral in September. This Angel has been made with 100,000 blunted and seized blades and we are hoping it will encourage some really great conversations about violence and aggression with the young people we work with.

Detached training 4th September
We will be holding a training evening and meal, re Drugs and Drug Use, for all our detached volunteers.  Contact Julie if you would like to join us.

World Mental health day 10th October 2019
We think this is such an important day to mark and we are hoping we can help local schools to raise awareness around mental health on the 10th October as well as all year round.

Every month we gather local youth workers, paid and voluntary,  together to talk about their work and pray for each other over breakfast.
The dates and times of the next term of prayer breakfasts will be:

Saturday 28th September

Saturday 26th October

Saturday 30th November

We regularly have the opportunity to go and speak to different groups and churches across Sevenoaks. Below are some upcoming dates and places we will be representing SAYT:

14th September- We will be supporting BGBC who will be celebrating their 250th Birthday
16th September-  We will be speaking at St Bartholomew's Soup Lunch
22nd September- We will be speaking at Darent Valley Community Church

BIG NEWS!
Beth has been with SAYT for a year now, and we thank God for all that she has brought to our ministry. Through a series of ‘God-incidences’, she applied and has been appointed as the Children and Youth Minister to a church in Midhurst, W.Sussex. So she will be moving on in September to this new work.
We wish her, and her new husband Chris well, and are so grateful that SAYT and Beth have had the blessing of each other for the last 12 months.

And we need your prayers as SAYT, through Julie and our amazing team of volunteers, continues to deliver youth work in this area, whilst the Trustees recruit a new worker.
God’s faithfulness is trustworthy… so it’s an exciting time of change.

Details of the vacancy will be on our website, or informal enquiries can be made by calling the office on 07763364185 or emailing info@sayt.org.uk
If you would like to learn more about what we do or would be interested in getting involved then we would love to here from you
