Christ the King Today marks the end of the Church's year. The new year starts on Advent Sunday next week, as we begin to tell the cycle of stories of the life of Jesus, from his birth in Bethlehem through to his crucifixion, resurrection and ascension. The cycle culminates today as we ponder what it means to call Christ "king", allowing him to influence and guide us in the way we live. The Gospel story is the story of the Penitent Thief, who is crucified next to Jesus and defends him. The cross becomes a throne, a sign of the power of Christ which is known in his love. Kevin Bright is our preacher today and will be helping us to explore these themes.

ALL AGE IDEAS
Today we think about Jesus as a king.- If you were king or queen, and could change anything you like about the world, what would you change?
- Make a crown - you could use cardboard, or make one out of leaves and bendy sticks - and, as you do so, talk about what it is like to tell other people what to do, or to for other people to tell you what to do.
- There are some ideas for leaf crowns here

SAFEGUARDING SUNDAY Today is Safeguarding Sunday in the Church of England. Safeguarding is at the heart of the Christian message. Jesus constantly brought into view those who were vulnerable and often overlooked in his society, healing and helping those on the margins, noticing and welcoming children, who many others ignored. If you would like to know more about safeguarding, or have any concerns about abuse you have experienced, witnessed or heard about, you can contact our Parish Safeguarding Officer, Marshall Kent, or the vicar, or the Diocesan Safeguarding team. More information about Safeguarding can be found on Rochester Diocese website here. https://www.rochester.anglican.org/safeguarding/ |

WHAT'S ON IN SEAL... MESSY CHURCH Messy Church is this afternoon in the church hall. There will be an Advent and Christmas theme, so come along at 3pm and join us in getting ready for Christmas and exploring the story of Jesus' birth.
THANK YOU to all who helped to make and serve the community lunch last week. All those who came enjoyed the delicious soup and crumble, and had a great time together. The next lunch is on Dec 21. Everyone is welcome.
MARGARET PHILLIPS R.I.P. I am sad to announce that Margaret Phillips, who many of the congregation will remember fondly, has died after a gradual deterioration in her health. Margaret was a regular member of Seal Church until 2018, when she and her husband Derek, moved to a retirement village in Aston-on-Trent to be near their family. Her funeral will be held in Aston on Trent on Dec 2

Citizens Advice Bureau are going to visit Friday Group on Friday 25th November, and deliver a Big Energy Saving Project workshop to explore ways of keeping our costs as low as possible. This is then being followed by an origami workshop, delivered by our own Nicole from NimiÅ› in the High Street. This will give us the opportunity to make some origami Christmas decorations, so another money saving project and possibly a chance to learn a new skill! Everybody is welcome to this open morning, and we look forward to meeting you at the Church Hall for coffee, tea, refreshments and learning. What more could we ask for? The session will start earlier on Friday 25th, so watch this space for more information.

Most are saying they have time on Saturday 3rd, rather than Sunday 4th, so we will aim to get as much done that day as possible. Erman in Deniz's cafe, is ready to take the final number for our bacon sandwich order - please remember, this is our way of saying thanks to those of you who have braved the elements and giving of your time, so any veggie options need to be directed to me in advance please. Only people who have committed in advance, will have a sandwich orders for them - this includes those hanging lights in areas other than the High Street. You just have to be near Deniz's at 10am please."
