Wedding at Cana 14th Century. British Library: The Queen Mary Psalter
This illuminated manuscript
shows the story of the Wedding at Cana, where Jesus, at the urging of his
mother, turned water into wine. He seemed reluctant to do this, but her concern
for the host family, who would have faced the scorn of their society if they
could not entertain those who had come, moved him to action. Here Mary, looks
towards Jesus, while a servant holds up a chalice of wine.
